The Hollywood superstar denied being associated with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned Wrexham while replying to an account on X that alleged he was investing at the Welsh club. Crowe also clarified that he actually put money into Leeds as a supporter of the Championship club.

Leeds announced Crowe's summer gig at the Brudenell Social Club in Hyde Park on X. Replying to the club's official announcement, a user wrote: "Such a massive Leeds fan he put his money into Wrexham, not the 49ers."
Crowe then replied: "I don’t have any part of what’s going on in Wrexham man. I’m really impressed with Ryan and Rob, and what they are achieving, but I’m not part of that. I do however have a very small connection now financially to LUFC via the 49er family. So, yeah, exactly… but opposite."
