The two doctorates and the honour of having her old playing field named after her come in the wake of Bright being awarded an OBE at the start of the year.
On Killamarsh Dynamos acknowledging her achievement, she said: "I loved playing at Killamarsh Dynamos – I started here when I was just nine years old and some of my earliest memories were made with my mates kicking a ball about on these pitches. The Club was only at the bottom of my road and one of my friends encouraged me down to join them. I never looked back! It has been a real honour to see how much the Lionesses’ success has meant to everyone here and across the country. I feel so proud of the whole team who are inspiring women and girls through the nation to get down to their local pitches to play football."
WHAT MILLIE BRIGHT SAID
The 30-year-old took to social media to reflect on the honours being awarded to her due to her success with England and Chelsea.
"Dr Millie Bright OBE," she wrote on an Instagram post celebrating her latest achievements. "Past few days have been very surreal for me and my family. "Honorary Doctorate from [The University of Sheffield]. Honorary Doctorate from [Derby University]. First person to be awarded the freedom of Derbyshire. Unveiled the Millie Bright Pitch in my home village.
"Still trying to process these prestigious awards I have been honoured with. Feeling extremely lucky to be recognised for my services to football on and off the pitch, something that is known as my job but I see it as my playground, my happy place and a community that is inspiring so many.
"Extremely proud of where I come from and being a marshan, thank you to everyone who came and showed their support. I was truly blown away by your attendance, love and support.
"Finally and most importantly thank you to my incredible family for being by my side these past few days. You never fail to amaze me and I’m so grateful for your time and always guiding me. Not enough words to thank you.
"Left a little speechless by such recognition. If you aren’t already keep Dreaming Big."
