In what has been a feast of feisty football at the King Power Stadium, Leicester City boast a 1-0 lead over West Ham courtesy of a first-half strike from Jamie Vardy.
If the Foxes maintain their lead until the final whistle, they’ll move ten points clear at the Premier League’s summit – with second-place Tottenham Hotspur not set to face Stoke City until Monday evening.
But their chances of doing so have just taken a serious dent, with the aforementioned goalscorer feeling the full wrath of John Moss’ notebook via a double booking.
Incredibly disappointingly, considering the high esteem most now hold Vardy in, his second yellow card was for a dive and a failed attempt to fool Moss into awarding a penalty.
The England international went shoulder to shoulder with Angelo Ogbonna but moved his leg in front of the Hammers centre-back, ensuring inevitable contact was made.
But Moss saw through Vardy’s theatrics, plummeting to the floor like a sack of falling potatoes, and quickly brought out a second yellow card.
The last time Leicester went down to ten men, they lost in a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal. So has Vardy’s dismissal thrown today’s result – or even worse, the Foxes’ title chances, into jeopardy? Fans on Twitter are incredibly concerned…
