Despite an initial upturn in form, the arrival of Sam Allardyce at Everton has left much to be desired.
Granted, the former England manager was not the fans’ or the clubs’ first choice to take the role so has always been battling against adversity.
However, Everton’s performances of late are reminiscent of the abysmal displays shown by Ronald Koeman’s side in his final weeks in charge.
The low point of Allardyce’s career with the Toffees so far, is undoubtedly last weekend’s thrashing at Arsenal; a performance that their own player Wayne Rooney described as embarrassing on Sky Sports.
And in a press conference on Thursday, ahead of the weekend’s home tie with Crystal Palace, Allardyce was asked about the ‘performance’ at the Emirates;
“It was one of those blips we’ve got to get over quickly. We don’t always fall foul of heavy defeats”.
Everton fans were quick to take to Twitter to correct Allardyce’s perhaps naive comments…
