According to an exclusive report by The Express, Celtic attacker Leigh Griffiths has returned to training following a six-week injury lay-off, but what will his return to the field mean?
What’s the word, then?
Well, the 28-year-old has missed the Glasgow giants’ previous seven fixtures having picked up a knee injury last month, with Brendan Rodgers’ men scoring 19 goals across those matches.
14 of those have come in the Scottish Premiership, but they drew a blank in their last game against Livingston to prove that they do need another option on top of Odsonne Edouard.
The Bhoys are about to face a season-defining six weeks in their campaign with 11 fixtures that include their two final Europa League group games, as well as a League Cup final against Aberdeen and a top-flight trip to Rangers at the end of 2018.
What does Griffiths’ return mean?
Firstly, it is a huge boost for Rodgers and Celtic in general as they look to maintain their lead at the top of the Scottish top flight and try and advance to the knockout stages of the Europa League.

The 28-year-old will ease some of the pressure building on Edouard’s shoulders to find the net on a regular basis – something he has already done on 12 occasions this term – as he will be able to either start with the Frenchman or bring a goal threat from the substitutes’ bench.
While the Bhoys don’t usually struggle for goals, having the 5ft 9in Griffiths available should ensure that they don’t have a repeat of the frustrating clash against Livingston last time out.
