Arsenal have finally ended their long hunt for a striker this summer by splashing out to bring in Gyokeres from Sporting. The forward moves in a transfer worth around €73.5 million (£63.4m/$86m) and joins Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard and Martin Zubimendi in making the switch to the Emirates this summer.

Gyokeres has jetted out to Asia to link up with the squad for their pre-season tour. The Gunners are due to face Spurs next in Hong Kong, and manager Arteta delivered an update on whether his newest signing will play ahead of the match.
WHAT ARTETA SAID
He told reporters: “He’s only done today’s session and yesterday – very little. We’re going to assess tonight how he is, and if the medical staff are happy as well with his condition to participate in tomorrow’s match, then it’s a possibility. We’re going to discuss that tonight.”

Arsenal fans will be eagerly awaiting their first glimpse of Gyokeres in a red and white shirt. The Gunners do have two more friendlies lined up, against Villarreal and Athletic Club, before kicking off their Premier League campaign with a blockbuster opener against Manchester United.
